Summer is here!

As school holidays go, the Easter break has certainly seemed to fly by. It’s amazing what a little smidge of sunshine can do! Hopefully you have all reflected on what Easter means to you and of course had a relaxing break and filled your bellies with chocolate!.

With the first breath of the summer term upon us there are so many things for everyone to look forward to. Each year group will be travelling to Borwick Hall for an exciting activity day as well as year 5’s eagerly anticipated Borwick residential. The FOBLES are organising their annual Family Fun Evening on 16th May with the usual melting pot of fun and festivities. We look forward to the Cross Country event on 10th May, Sports Day on 4th June, the fabulous M & M Theatre coming into school with their ‘Twist in Time’ production, Mufti days, Cake Sales, Disco’s, Sponsored run and of course, the Year 6 residential visit to the Isle of Man. – Is there any time for work?

We also prepare this term to say a fond farewell to our year 6 children as they move on to another school and a new key stage. An important right of passage never forgotten. There will be the year 6 leavers photo and parent presentation as well as the traditional leavers’ service at Holy Trinity.

Hopefully the sun will continue to shine on us all throughout the term..

Now back to those chocolate eggs.

Hello 2014!

Well only one week into the new term and already the sprinklings of festive cheer seem like a distant memory!. Hopefully Christmas filled your hearts and bellies enough to see you through the early part of the spring term.

Looking through the various class blogs I’ve noticed just how much has been going on in school that would normally not make it to the outside world! It’s a fantastic insight into the amazing work that goes on in the classroom. Inspiring science projects, caption competitions, literacy masterpieces alien adventures and hedgehogs! I was particularly impressed with the impromptu year 6 flash mob performance during a school lunchtime. Good work everyone!

So here’s to an inspiring and productive 2014…

Happy New Year!!!

And Relax!

Chased by the autumn leaves at the school gate this morning I realised just how quick this term has seemed to whizz by. I wonder if it has felt as speedy for the teachers and staff?!?

It has been truly fantastic to see that so many teachers, classes and pupils have embraced the new BLOG this term. I’ve found it an excellent way of finding out who’s been doing what and what’s been going on!

It’s great to meet the new Music Service team and see lots of smiling faces in images of the recorder club and school choir. Mr’s Cross’s page is a gripping read. I’ve even learned that he can cook a wicked chocolate cake! Miss Rogerson has been inspiring budding writers who have been posting 100 word passages at the Creative Writing Club. Also fantastic to see the pupils writing some really constructive comments to each other…Well done!

Mr Dixon has done a marvellous job of keeping us informed about the athletics and football clubs and also using the blog as a tool to deliver important information to pupils about the clubs.

All good stuff and there are some brilliant class stories and amazing images that have been posted to animate the stories….

Good work team! Now go and have a well deserved holiday week!

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back!

One Giant Step!

Hello World!

Ok so I’m new to blogging so this mornings INSET training with John Sutton at the school has been a real eye opener(and head basher).

The school hall was looking as shiny as an unread book and the school staff beaming from ear to ear about the thought of the year ahead. The talk of far flung places and holiday adventure soon turned to Twitter, Flicker WordPress and the land of BLOG.

Exciting digital times times ahead for Bolton le Sands school as we embrace this technology with both hands and feet. This is going to be a chance to share, comment, learn, build and grow.
